working here is boring-part 2

Only yesterday I was complaining about my work of boredom. then today, Daniel asked me if I could handle the library alone. he had a new role which require him to attend a training. I did mentioned in the earlier post that he was a graduate trainee. so now he will move to a project room. but he will still be able to support the library because requests are coming in through email. and he will be able to access the email anywhere. when there's a request/release, he will email me to my personal email and ask me to complete the work. oh when I first heard about this, I was thinking like..what???you didn't teach me much, how can I handle the library alone?oh damn! I'm gonna be dead. this is a big responsibility that came to me all of a sudden. but as the day goes by, it was kinda okay actually. at first, in the morning it was a bit chaotic because a lot of requests is coming in so fast. but I manage to do it well. and now the day is about to end in a few hours more. I hope everyday will be like this. no one came to ask about application or whatever related to softwares because seriously, I don't know what to answer. I only support him doing his work so I will ask them to refer to Daniel themselves.

working here is boring

I never posted this before because I didn't know how to describe my boredom. I just graduated and I'm in my first job. working in DHL IT Service Centre in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. what position?Librarian!!I've worked here for a month now and I didn't do much work since I came here. yeah I'm only here for 2 1/2 half months,my contract will end on April 23rd, but seriously, could you give me something to do?Actually I'm just here taking a place of a lady librarian who went on maternity leave since Feb 6th. so in the library, there's only me and Daniel, a grad trainee.he really does not talk much to me, but at least he's in the better position than I am. with better salary ( that's what I heard).he's been here for 8 months now so he's the one to teach me everything to do here.

you see, DHL is a global courier company, the one with the yellow color theme, and I worked in their IT Service Centre (they only have four in the whole world-Bonn, Prague, Scottsdale, Cyberjaya) so the library keeps all the datas, applications and software. my job is basically involves burning CDs, copying content, extracting tapes, finding, storing and organizing storage devices. people don't request applications many times a day everyday. when there's a lot of requests, then only I have a lot of work to do. If not, I just sit there, online and do what I do now, blogging. that's why I updated my blog everyday now, not because I get this sense of consciousness, but because I have nothing better to do. I have been through many days where I only burn 1 CD for the whole day. it was very very dull. Everyday on my way to work, I keep thinking, is today gonna be another boring working day?I might just sit at home and find another job. hey, that's what I do best. sitting at home and apply for a job everyday. been doing this for two months before ended up here.If they don't have many things for me to, why did they hire me anyway? Daniel obviously could handle the library alone. he knows everything. he doesn't have much work either. while I spent my time blogging and visiting forums, he's watching some sort of video online. that's what we did everyday.

When I first started, I got all excited and there's much work to do and learn at that time. but now, I keep looking at the clock and can't wait to go back. Can't wait for the weekend. Can't wait to get outta here. If they offered me to renew my contract, I only accept if they could transfer me to other department. the environment is really good, with some nice people around, but I can't continue working here no longer.I will die of boredom.

French Croissant

do you like french croissant?i love 'em. so much that i could eat them everyday. i always want to try making my own home-made croissant. then i found this recipe in my dad's cooking book in the section 'Bread'. if it's croissant recipes, it always almost the same be it from online or in books. but i find this recipe interesting. it makes the croissant crispy and flaky.

FLAKY FRENCH CROISSANT

• 1 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

• 1/4 cup unsifted all purpose flour
• 3/4 cup milk
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup very warm water (105-115F)
• 2 packages active dry yeast
• 3 cups unsifted all purpose flour
• 1 egg yolk
• 1 tablespoon milk

1. beat up butter and flour with spoon until smooth. spread it on a piece of waxed paper in a 12x6 inches rectangle and refrigerate.

2. add sugar and salt to the milk. Heat and stir until dissolve. leave it to lukewarm.

3. stir in yeast until dissolve and put flour in milk slowly and stir until smooth. then knead it. cover in wrung-dry cloth and let it rise for 1 hour. then refrigerate for 1/2 hour.

4. on lightly floured board, roll into 14x14 rectangle, place butter mixture that we made earlier on one half of dough. fold the other half over butter and seal edges. with the sealed edges on right hand side, roll from centre to make 20x8 inches square.

5. fold dough in thirds, making it 3 layers, wrap and chill for an hour.

6. with edges at left, roll out into 20x8 inches, fold and chill for 1/2 hour. Repeat the process.Chill overnight.

7. roll, fold and chill for 1/2 hour again. do this twice. then do it again and chill for 1 hour.

8. roll out dough and cut into 4 parts. each part is rolled into 12 inch circle and cut it into 6 wedges.

9. roll each square from the wide end. form the edges to make crescent shape and place on baking sheet

10. cover and let it rise for 1 hour. heat oven to 425F. brush croissant with yolk beaten with milk and bake for 5 minutes. reduce oven to 375F and bake 10 minutes more until puffed and brown. best served warm.

Yes it does take a lot of process and time, but it's really worth it. if you want to save time and energy, just buy yourself a frozen puff pastry. but it might not be as good as a self-made croissant.

Alice In Wonderland

It's Friday and weekend is here! I had planned to go watch Alice In Wonderland tonight after work with cousins. ohh i can't wait. It was my favorite childhood movie. And I still remember the Red Queen always getting mad, the twins tweedledee and tweedledum. And I my favourite character besides Alice, The Madhatter and the Cheshire cat with his synical smile up to his ears..haha!

I'm not going to write the review about the latest Alice In Wonderland that starts showing today, but I will write a short pictorial review about the original Alice In Wonderland as released by Walt Disney in 1951.

Alice In Wonderland

Set in the bank of a river, Alice got bored by her sister's stories and starts dreaming of a world of nonsense which she called 'A World of My Own' with her little kitten, Dinah.

She suddenly saw a White Rabbit and followed it into the hole, leaving Dinah behind.

She encountered a door and the Doorknob advice her to drink a potion and eat cookies that shrink her size too small that she cannot reach for the key. Here she goes all too big and too small.

Then she met Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dodo Bird and into the house of White Rabbit and grows again. but she manage to shrink 3-inches by eating a carrot.

Still chasing the White Rabbit, she finds herself in a garden of talking flowers and strange insects who thought Alice is a weed.

She met a smoking catterpillar who told her about the mushroom she sits on and keep some in her pocket.

The Cheshire cat directs her to the garden of March Hare celebrating his 'unbirthday' with Madhatter and Dormouse.

Their rude and wackiness made Alice decided to go home. She met Cheshire cat once again and he shows a shortcut leading to the Queen of Hearts Garden.

There, she met playing cards painting white roses red and the White Rabbit invites her to play croquet using flamingos as mallet and hedgehog as balls.

Here, the Cheshire cat prank on Queen who mistakenly accuse Alice. She then was put to trial but her friends (Madhatter, Dormouse, March Hare) are of no help.

Chaos erupts causing Alice to eat her mushroom and grows big. She scolds the Queen for her bad behavior but shrink back too soon. the Queen orders to slash Alice's head but she manage to escape to the Doorknob and saw herself sleeping in the park.

She calls "Alice, wake up!!" to her sleeping self and wake up to the voice of her sister. Then they return home for tea and Alice amuses herself with the advertures she just had in her dreams....

all pictures are from Walt Disney's Alice In Wonderland

life goes on

it has been a while since i last posted on this blog. ohh that was so last year. now I've graduated and land myself a contract position in DHL Cyberjaya. I've started work early last month and still looking for a permanent job.I am just filling in a position replacing the librarian who's on maternity leave for two months. so you see, a job as a software librarian is kinda boring. when you don't have cd's to burn/organize/update/no one requests any application, we basically have nothing to do. so what I did was online throughout the day. while browsing through the web for jobs & vacancies everywhere, i found a lot of internet money-making jobs. some of them are paid surveys and paid-to-read ads.well i signed up for these two though I'm not really sure I can earn a living thru it. maybe just for a side income, which i hadn't received much yet.and while i continue browsing, i accidentally click and sign up for this vemma builder thingy. it took me some time to read their web when at last i discover i had to make payment & to join this team.and it was kinda expensive too. 19.95 USD/ RM 340.hey! i didn't even get my first salary yet. and not to mention the monthly maintenance. i need to pay for the office fees and required to purchase the mangosteen juice. damn expensive!! so i just close the page. the next thing i know, my email was full with their offering me to upgrade. so i did my homework, i browse through the web (again!) to find out about it. there are some people who called it a scam and some admit they gained succes with it, but you have to work for it. of course it does. if i joined, i need to promote my vemma webpage online.i didn't even know how to advertise. so i think and think..and i got confused.is it really a scam?or does it not?and do you provide courses to  teach us to advertise our page?if i joined, maybe not now.maybe sometime later..when i have more money in my pockets.

take yourself a look at their web www.generatemoney.vemma.com
